final idea for the front cover.i kept the front loud and colourful which helps to attract the reader.
i also chose colours that where unisex and didnt favour one just one gender.
although this magazine has many educational values with exam timetables and course infomation i wanted it to be interesting for students and so it covers the lastest events and evnts that have already happend.
the magazine also has a personel feeling to it as it would often have a story like on my contents page where the reader can vote for their favourite album or give there views and opinions on the lastest story.
the masthead is bright and colourful this is attractive to the reader .
the magazine has an indie feel and this is due to the majortity of students liking this genre of music.
students are often associated with being messy and untidy and so i took this stereotype and used it within the layout of the magazine.

this is my chosen mock up of the contents i tried to keep it simple but if there was colours involved then it would be vibrant to conotate the student life.

· In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
My music magazine is named the Vibe which conotates to the content of the magazine. For example NME(New Musical Express) refers to alternate music and basically covers most British rock music especially Indie. My magazine was influenced by NME in its taste of music and social groups. It targets a massive potential audience of different social groups which I intended for my magazine to do as well.
My magazine challenges the typical conventions of NME or any other rock magazine as it tries to educate or widen peoples horizons on their average music taste to an alternate and personal taste rather than the normal ideology of which the production teams and record labels try to control.
My Magazine is developed in a simple and easy read manor where the target audience or consumer feel free to develop there choice of music taste however the magazine emphasises on bands that aren’t always necessarily known in the pop charts.
For example many television shows like skins from channel e4 promote many bands which usually will be interviewed or featured within a magazine like NME or my magazine.
· How does your media product represent particular social groups?
Social groups.
My magazine reflects the alternate audience of which consists of a target audience of different genres.
For example indie electro new rave and other alternate music genres which don’t necessarily feature on the charts or in mainstream music magazines.
The magazine also follows the target audiences ideologies behind the way of life.
For example shops like topshop/topman and river island and many retro boutique stores would be included as the consumer wants the whole package.
The magazine educates and informs the readers about the ideology in which they live there life’s
· What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
.my magazine would be published by the major institute EMap media who also publish THE HITS magazine and have years of marketing and publishing experience.
Also THE VIBE would release compilation albums on behalf of Emap as part of marketing and advertising. As there is no other magazine of this content contracted by Emap this would be a new magazine for Emap.
· Who would be the audience for your media product?
My target audience would be from the ages 0f 16 to 24 and of both male and female.
The magazine would be aimed at anything from your average music fan to those with an alternate taste.
As stated above the target audience would benefit by been able to develop a new music taste through the simplicity of the magazine.
. how did you attract/address your audience.
I handed out opinion forms as to what should be included in a magazine.
i also researched what the trends and what people like through interaction with people from my college.
to attract my audience i used the usual conventional bright colours and topics which would interest people from a wider spectrum.
what have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
i have learnt hopw to use most of the tools on adobe photshop also the techicalities to a camera plus how using this equipment takes time and precision.
looking back at your preliminary task ' what do you feel you you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
i feel more time needs to be spent on research and getting a good concept of the ideas behind making a magazine.
also i feel that more time would be needed on taking the photgraphs as been able to get the right shot isnt something which can be done instantly it requires research and patients.

masthead: the masthead is large and bright and symbolic of the magazine.this is an eye catcher to the readers.large picture: the picture is of a famous band member and is pointing and looking at the reader which could be part of the text next to the picture .
notice in the text next to the picture the word free is high lighted in red and this stands out from the rest and is a selling point of the magazine.
there is also another plug on the kaiser chiefs and the aim of this plug is to show you an interesting story or interview which will be inside.
notice how it is highlighted and dramatically stands out from the rest of the magazine this brings your attention to it and lets you know a little bit about a story but only the topic making you want to read more.

ss)NME magazine.genre: the magazine is an indie magazine an this reflects the youth of today after related series on television like skins the magazine now targets the main stream and local bands of the uk.the the magazine looks at bands of today and the past but only rock and techno theres never any RnB music or rap its purely aimed at the rock culture in youth today and no other magazine is produced like this.
media language: the font used is bright colourful and stands out from most other magazines.
this is to attract the younger audience and represents their personalility of wanting to stand out.
the text is also large over the image of the band which is probably catching your eyes on to their latest interview and best selling point of the magazine for that month.
representations: the magazine is based on the sex drugs and rock n roll teenagers of today and how many of teenagers follow this life.
representation: the magazine focuses on the culture of the pop rock bands of the day and has done since march 1952 .
the magazine supports the fashoin music and lifstyle in which this culture lives.
also i researched the NME website to dind related links to cd stores and fashion shops.
Audience: looking at the ideology of the magazine its audience is mainly teenagers of the college and university backgrounds

main task.
the front page , contents and double page spread of a new music mgazine.
all images and tezt used must be original, produced by you- minimun of four images.
my favourite genre is indie rock music and so this is what my magazine is going to be based on.
this genre has a wide variety of bands and acts to choose from and is possibly the most popular genre of today.
the genre of indie music is put together using rock and pop and slight elements from the 60s 70s and 80s which cretes a pop like rock music which we know as indie and appeals to a large audience and has almost become the main stream music of britain.
this inludes bands like:
the kooks, artic monkeys, the strokes and the libertines.
the genre of music will also reflect on the fashion in which the audience would wear and the lifestyle they have.

liiar.
language.
this will be informal on the up coming events and music being released. it also would have a humourous side with slight slang and should be within modern day langauge.
the languge of the magazine itself will not just be for the intense indie fan but those who have a slight interest aswell. basicly the audience should feel at home when reading the magaine.
institution.
as an institution i have to create a clean profit and so i must include as much selling points as possible in the magazine but also it already has its links as in this type of magazine the fashoin is already catered for with shops like topman and h+m so adverts from shops like this could be placed within the magazine.
ideology.
this is were the audiences lifestyle is included and manipulated within the magazine and this is a constent and up to date process. in my case i will keep the readers up to date on fashion gigs and up coming bands plus the sports results and local infomation with a feedback page where the audience will feel they can have there say.
audience.
my target will be the indie inspired teenagers ranging from 16 to the late 20s.
many people from this area alreday read magazines like nuts zoo and nme but to create a magazine which has all the infomation from zoo nuts and nme in one would be more convinient for the audience and is what im basing my music magazine on.
representation.
the audience is what i would be representing andd i hope to create a magazine that will be of most teenagers interests and could also educate the readers as well as inform them.
